Small Scale for a Greater Cause – Silent Auction
Submitted by Peggy McCaskill Foerster
The final date has just past for delivering art to this worthy program, which enables at risk students to develop character, responsibility and good study habits. This results in a 100% High School graduation rate for students enrolled in the program. We are proud to have supported this organization and its efforts since 2012. This past Fall 2014, we were pleased to award 2, $1,000 Scholarships to graduates of SAY Si, who are currently pursuing University Degrees in Fiber Art.
I have taken the liberty of quoting a portion of one letter of appreciation, written by one recipient, to her mentors at SAY Si, thanking them for recommending her for this Scholarship, from FASA.
“all at SAY Si, I would like to express my extreme gratitude for selecting me as the recipient of the Fiber Artists of San Antonio Scholarship. As you know, I am currently starting my second semester as a full time graduate student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as working two jobs in order to support myself. Although I am on my own in a big (cold!) city, I can’t describe how much it warms my heart to have continuous support from SAY SI. You guys are so amazing. When I was a teenager SAY SI really changed my life, and it still continues to do so.
Thank you so, so much.
Sincerely, Portia Roy
