FASA General Meeting Minutes
13 March 2017
This meeting was called to order at 11:25 at the San Antonio Garden Center, 2210 N. New Braunfels, San Antonio, TX by President Caryl Gaubatz.
Administration
- Minutes for general meeting held on 13 FEB 2017 are approved as electronically transmitted to the members.
- Treasurer’s Report
Diana Kellerman- The Treasurers report was transmitted via eBlast. There were no questions regarding the treasurer’s report and it was submitted for financial review.
Old Business
- Phyllis Jordan on behalf of the Nominating Committee presented the slate of officers for the 2017-2018 FASA Board:
- President: Caryl Gaubatz
- 1st VP, Programs: Kate Martin
- 2nd VP, Exhibition: Rebecca Segura and Ida Spence
- 3rd VP, Runway Show: (vacant)
- 4th VP, Scholarships: Sherry Christensen
- Secretary: Sue Riddell
- Treasurer: Pat Emel
- Newsletter: Lyn Belisle
- After presenting the slate of officers, Phyllis asked for nominations from the floor. There being non, Caryl presented the slate of appointed committee chairs.

- Community Service: Peggy McCaskill Foerster
- Hospitality: Bonnie Davis

New Business
- Jean Dahlgren announced that the 2017 Annual Show would be in October at the Semmes Gallery of UIW. Entries will be due in August.
- Jean also related the results of her meeting with Stephen Guzman, Communications Director at SAY SI. SAY SI was very impressed with the quality of our work. They wished to have a closer relationship with FASA that would include student introduction fiber arts through classes and workshops in surface design and mixed media. SAY SI is willing to host FASA Shows every other year in even years. In 2018 the Annual Show will be at SAY SI. Opening will be on 7 DEC 2018.Closing TBA, possibly in January 2019. Additionally, there is a possibility for student Fiber Work to appear in FASA shows and for a pop-up shop in the SAY SI Gallery with FASA items available for sale during our annual show. Such items would be smaller in size & lower in price points that objects available in the show. Caryl mentioned what a great opportunity this liaison would be for the future of FASA as it increases our visibility in the community, and opens to door to a younger and more diverse membership.

- 1st Vice President (Programs)
Bonnie Davis- The April Program will be presented by Miki Rodriguez.
- 2nd Vice President (Annual Exhibit)
Jean Dahlgren and Dale Jennsen- (see new business)
- 3rd Vice President (Runway Show)
J’cil Horn- Parking for the show was described in detail. A map will be sent to members via eBlast.
- Sponsorship of pages by members will help to underwrite the cost of producing the program. See Ida Spence for details.
- Margaret King Stanley reminded members that raffle tickets are available. Funds from raffle & Silent Auction go to the Scholarship fund.
- Robin reminded all entrants to bring cash entry fees when turning in their garments on 14 April.
- 4th Vice President (Scholarships)
Sherry Christensen- explained the construction in front of the Garden Center
- described successful tour to Sue Corbett’s studio available
- announced that next tour would be at Jean Dahlgren’s studio on 11 MAY 2017
- thanked Susan Mayfield for presenting today’s Fi-Bar
- Scholarship monies that are collected at May 6 Runway Show will be awarded by 31 AUG 2017.

- Community Service
Anita Centeno reporting for Ida Spence- Days for Girls Kits will be mailed to Zambia on 1 May. Please return completed kits to Ida by 15 April. If you would like to make up another kit for Ida, please call her at (210) 213-4037 and she will deliver the kit to your home.

- SAGAG /FASA vendor show at Kerr Art and Culture Center- 24 AUG- 25 SEP 2017.
- FASA members who wish to participate should give their names to Susie Monday. Each member may submit 3-5 pieces. As pieces are sold, they may be replaced with back stock.

- announced Garden Center plant sale -17-18 March.
