FASA General Meeting Minutes
14 November 2016
This meeting was called to order at 10:00 am at the San Antonio Garden Center, 2210 N. New Braunfels, San Antonio, TX by President Caryl Gaubatz.
Administration
Minutes for general meeting held on 10 October 2016 are approved as electronically transmitted to the members.
Financial report

As of 31 OCT 2016, we have $80,805.27 total in all accounts
Since 1 JUN 2016, we have given $7,000 in scholarships and $4,600 to the library at UTSA from the Kathy Furukawa fund.
Old Business
Our collaboration with Southwest School of Art to bring in a natural dyer for a workshop is still in the works. India Flint will not be able to travel at this time, so other natural dyers are being considered.

December is our pot luck but we will have a short (15-20 minute) presentation
January’s program will be presented by Jane Dunnewold
2nd Vice President (Annual Exhibit)
Jean Dahlgren and Dale Jennsen
107 pieces from 52 artists were selected by the juror, Marilyn Landfear. The selections include 20 pedestal pieces, 16 mannequins, art quilts, beadwork and much more.
Artwork will be hung at Say Si on 22 NOV 2016
Marilyn will select the award winners on 24 NOV 2016 (6 awards)
Opening reception will be on 2 DEC 2016 from 6pm to 8pm; a bartender will be present
Awards will be announced at 7pm during the reception
Say Si will have a security guard to help with parking
Show closes on 16 DEC 2016
Artwork pickup will be at Say Si on 17 DEC 2016; if you cannot pick up your work on the 17th, please make other arrangements and let Jean know.

It’s time to be thinking of designs for the Style Show; think romance, spies, retro.
The grand staircase in Sunset Station will serve as the runway

Community Service

Members can leave monetary donations or bring nonperishable food items for The Alamo Heights Christian Church Food Pantry. Drop off site is beside the membership table at the entry.
Ida Spence is overseeing Days for Girls, a project to help women and girls in third world countries by providing re-useable sanitary goods. Disposable sanitary goods are not readily available for these women. Kits with instructions will be available at the December meeting that members can pick up, take home to complete, and return the finished product to the next meeting.

December is our Holiday Pot Luck, please bring a party food to share. You may bring hotplates or other small electric appliances to keep your dish hot if needed; you may want to also bring an extension cord as outlets may not be close by.
