FASA’s service to other organizations and individuals has been, and continues to be, expansive.
Through canned goods and paper goods, etc, as well as checks and cash, we continue to support the Food Pantry of Alamo Heights Christian Church, which has a very active food ministry to the hungry who come weekly to its doors. Contact Person: Peggy Foerster
Through our member donations of small scale works of art to SAY SI’s annual art auction, we support their tuition free art education, after regular school hours, for middle and high school students, who then go on to college. We have also given Scholarships to graduating students in the past.
Through the work of Email Tree co-chair Ida Spence, and donating specified flannel cloth, FASA members support “Days for Girls”. By sewing reusable sanitary napkins for girls in Africa, school absence rates for the girl students dropped from 36% to 8% in Uganda, and from 25% to 3% in Kenya. 56% of women in Sindh, Pakistan, said that menstruation impacted their work … and thus, their income. Ask Ida about the San Antonio girls who are sewing the kits to be mailed to their global “sisters”.
By donating used art supplies to SPARE PARTS, a leader in reuse education through the arts, we join in its efforts to inspire & support the San Antonio creative community & our PreK-12 schools through environmental accountability. Usually every June.
Through the work of FASA Treasurer Diana Kellerman, we have assisted the work of The Center for Refugee Services, who were selling their handmade items (and raising awareness) from the free table afforded them at the vendors’ area during our Runway Show.
FASA members also helped create a crocheted San Antonio Satellite Reef, to call attention 
to the devastation of living reefs from climate change and ocean acidification, displayed at the SA Public Library.
Finally, members sign in the FASA Registry to list how many hours they have logged in the multitude of volunteer jobs for the Service of our Community!
