2020 – I used the ancient Japanese process of Suminagashi to make this statement piece. Using brushes and ink, I made marbled concentric figures, blowing and pulling them. I stretched the charmeuse silk fabric between two bamboo sticks. The fringe and hanger are ‘eyebrow’ sari silk strips that provide jobs for women in Nepal.
